Yokut's Park Fun Runs. Absolutely Free! Come out and run on the second Saturday of each month at Yokut's Park in Bakersfield. We start at 7am with a 1 mile "warm up" run for everyone. After that, choose from a 2, 3, or 5 mile run. We will keep track of your time for you, and have some snacks afterward. A great way to get in some training together.

Scott Newton Of Soul 2 Sole sports has made 2 entries for Wipeout - The Race available to the Bakersfield Track Club. This looks to be an absolute blast!!! The race is being held on May 11 at the Agri Center in Tulare, CA.

| May 11 | Dawn to Dusk 12 Hour Adventrue Race | San Luis Obispo Dawn to Dusk 12 Hour Adventure Race - May 11 CASH will be awarded to the top three Co-Ed & Female teams. 1st Place – $1000 2nd Place – $700 3rd Place – $300 Registration is now open! The Dawn to Dusk encompasses the major disciplines found in longer adventure racing competitions — including navigation throughout and a ropes section. The Dawn to Dusk provides a challenge to experienced adventure racers and those who are new to adventure racing. It is recommended that participants have some experience with navigation and endurance activities. It includes: 6 to 8 miles of kayaking

Date: May 25, 2013 at 0800 hours @ Hart Park. Event: Sheriff's 2nd annual Honor Run. 5K,10K and kids fun run. Details: Event takes place during Peace Officer Memorial Month. Proceeds to benefit the children of fallen deputies and Sheriff's Activities League. Entry fee is $25.00 (pre-registration).

H.A.L.T. stands for Helping Animals Live Tomorrow. We are a non-profit organization rescuing abandoned dogs in the Bakersfield area. All food, supplies and vet bills are paid for by donations from the public. This is our 4th annual Rescue Run and all proceeds will assist in providing for the dogs in our shelters. The 5k and 10k timed races will begin at 8 am, Saturday, June 1st at Yokuts Park (4200 Empire Drive). Race course is westbound on the paved bike path. There will be medals for the top 3 finishers in each category. The first 200 pre-registered runners are guaranteed shirts. The race is dog-friendly and the Top Dog crossing the finish line will get his/her own medal! There will be vendor booths, raffle prizes, food, entertainment for the dogs and Bakersfield Animal Control will be there for licensing your pet. Available dogs for adoption will also be there. You may fill out the entry form and mail it in with cash, check, or a money order, or you can register on-line and pay via PayPal. Register at haltrescue.org. Any questions email run@haltrescue.org

The 11th Annual Bakersfield Police Department K9 Unit's "Howlin' at the Moon" Fun Run will be held on Saturday, 8/17/13 at the Park at River Walk (13000 Stockdale Hwy). The fun run 2k will be held at 8:00 PM and the timed 5k & 10k will begin at 8:30 PM (approximately). The run will proceed eastbound. Awards in the top 3 categories. First 300 pre-registered runners are guaranteed a t-shirt. $25 early registration if received by 8/14. Race day registration is $30. E-mail apflugh@bakersfieldpd.us with any questions or call 326-3685 and leave a message. All proceeds benefit the BPD K9 Unit. Kern County's ONLY night-time run. Who wants to run through the heart of the Sierras with 9 of their favorite people? Join us for the First Annual Sierra Nevada Relay on August 24th and 25th. Teams of 5 or 10 runners will spend 24 hours running this beautiful 175 mile course through the Sierras. Runners will start at the Royal Gorge Cross Country Ski Resort on Donner Pass. They will then run through the mountains and rural communities by fields of wildflowers and lakes to end at the South Entrance of Lassen Volcanic National Park. We are in the early planning stages and will provide you with more information and details on the event as the event grows. The Alliance is a sister organization to the Bakersfield Homeless Center and we are excited to be collaborating with their expertise and knowledge in building this event. |
